Exhibition of the Hallandsås Tunnel
Emissions from vehicular traffic are changing our world. Can the railway rescue us? While the tunnel through the Hallandsås Ridge is just a part of Sweden’s large-scale investment in railways, it is probably the feature that is most talked about. Why is the tunnel being built? What has actually happened and how does it look today?
Visit the major exhibition of the Hallandsås Tunnel. The tunnel through the Hallandsås Ridge is part of the West Coast Trunk Line. This is one of Sweden’s key railway connections from both a Nordic and a European perspective since, when combined with the Öresund Fixed Link, it connects Norway to the continent. The tunnel through the Hallandsås Ridge will increase the capacity from the current rate of four trains per hour to 24.
